Product description

Promoting healthy eyes

  • A comprehensive formula that supports total eye health.
  • Helps prevent against conditions such as age-related macular degeneration and cataracts.
  • Protects the eyes from free radical damage, including U.V. rays
  • Supports night vision
  • Made with OST® that suspends the active ingredients in omega oils for greater absorption

The importance of keeping your eyes and your eyesight healthy cannot be overstated, especially as we age. As we age there are several potential conditions that could develop:

Age-related macular degeneration (AMD): destroys sharp, central vision that helps you see fine details

Cataracts: vision becomes cloudy

Taking preventative action to fight against conditions like age-related macular degeneration and cataracts is something that you should start as early as possible (between 30-40).

How supplementation can help?

Did you know that your eyes require specialized nutrition as they are continually exposed to the damaging environmental effects of sunlight? Here's how the carefully chosen ingredients found in Total Vision Care contribute to healthy eyes:

Lutein and zeaxanthin

The carotenoids lutein and zeaxanthin are found in the macula of the eye in high concentrations and the lack thereof may play a role in the development of age-related macular degeneration (AMD). Lutein and zeaxanthin are antioxidants that help protect your eyes from free radical damage caused by ultra violet radiation and are important for the overall health of your eyes and vision - retina, macula, lenses, and the ability to see details. (Total Vision Care contains naturally sourced lutein and zeaxathin from marigold that is made without using hexane or any other harsh chemical solvents.).

Bilberry Fruit

The therapeutic properties of bilberry are attributed to the presence of anthocyanosides, which are potent antioxidants. It is suggested that bilberry enhances visual acuity through the inhibition of free radicals.

Alpha Lipoic acid

Cataract development has been linked to reduced levels of glutathione a potent intracellular antioxidant. Alpha lipoic acid is an antioxidant that has been shown to slow the progression of cataracts. In lab experiments alpha lipoic acid was able to inhibit aldose reductase enzyme, which is implicated in diabetic cataracts.

Vitamin A

Vitamin A, the precursor of rhodopsin, helps to maintain healthy eyesight. Rhodopsin plays an important role in proper night vision. Vitamin A is also a potent antioxidant for sight and promotes healthy surface linings of the eyes to protect against bacteria and viruses.

Beta Carotene

Beta carotene is a precursor of vitamin A that is used by the body to produce rhodopsin. Rhodopsin is a pigment of the retina that is responsible for both the formation of the photoreceptor cells and enables vision in low-light conditions. Beta carotene was one of the antioxidants used in the AREDS study that significantly reduced the odds of developing advanced AMD. (Total Vision Care uses only naturally sourced Beta Carotene that contains the full spectrum of caratenoids).

Grape seed extract

Grape seed extract is known as a powerful antioxidant that protects the body from premature aging, disease, and decay. Grape seeds contain mainly phenols, such as proanthocyanidins. Studies have shown that the antioxidant power of proanthocyanidins is 20 times greater than vitamin E and 50 times greater than vitamin C. Other studies have shown that proanthocyanidins also helps to protect your eyes from sun damage to improve vision.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C malnutrition is the leading contributor to various eye abnormalities, including glaucoma, cataracts and macular degeneration. Vitamin C contributes to visual health by acting as an antioxidant that scavenges free radicals to prevent oxidative damage to the eye. High blood level of vitamin C is associated with 64% reduced chance for cataract development.

Vitamin E

The synergistic combinations of fat-soluble vitamin E and water-soluble vitamin C can significantly reduce the risk of age-related macular degeneration by fighting free radicals to support the integrity of the aging eye. In the age-related eye disease study (AREDS), researchers discovered that vitamin E along with other antioxidants lowers the risk of developing advanced AMD by 25%.

Zinc

Zinc is an essential mineral that stimulates the activity of approximately 100 enzymes, including the enzyme that converts retinol to retinal for the synthesis of rhodopsin involved in dark adaptation. Zinc deficiency is associated with a decreased release of vitamin A from the liver, which may contribute to symptoms of night blindness that are seen with zinc deficiency.

Fish Oil

DHA (Docosahexaenoic acid) is a component of omega-3 fish oil. It is also found in abundant supply within the macula (15.9%) and in the peripheral retina (22.4%) of the human eye. DHA forms structural elements within the membranes of photoreceptors and as such may play a role in prevention of disease.
