Think of mullein when something is irritated whether it be the throat, lungs, ear, bladder or mind. In the respiratory tract mullein is used for dry hoarse coughs, which annoy the sufferer and become worse upon lying down.
This is usually seen as a lingering symptom of a cold or flu, or as a symptom of a chronic condition like asthma and emphysema.
In the urinary tract mullein coats and soothes irritated tissue to relieve pain, frequency, and urgency that is associated with urinary tract infections. It is also helpful for insomnia that is due to pain or irritation in the body.
