Microalgae are one of the main sources of omega-3 EFAs. Other plant sources, such as linseed, chia and hemp seeds, alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), a short-chain omega-3 that the body can not convert to EPA and DHA. Marine Algae-3 provides highly concentrated preformed EPA and DHA, eliminating the need for conversion.
Omega-3 fatty acids, including DHA and EPA, have a beneficial effect on cognitive health and brain function, and even on cardiovascular health. DHA is particularly important for proper brain function and consists of 30-40% long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids of the cerebral cortex. It is highly concentrated in the cell membranes of the retina and brain, especially in synapses. With its six double bonds, ADH is the most unsaturated fatty acid, that is, it improves membrane fluidity and biochemical efficiency. It facilitates the formation of a good cell structure and the proper functioning of the cells. It also has an effect on neurotransmitters, including the regulation of dopamine, serotonin and norepinephrine.
Omega-3 fatty acids are essential for the health of cell membranes, an anomaly that causes almost all chronic diseases. EPA and DHA are also converted into prostaglandins, compounds that work well for the cardiovascular, digestive and renal systems, as well as the regulation of inflammation and hormone production as well as the blood pressure
